The Best Things I Did in 2019 + The Wrap Up Vol 9
Hello 2020, feeling like a Tiger, putting down roots, falling in love with Baby Yoda, Death Sex & Money podcast all in this month’s “The Wrap UP” vol 9
Happy New Year! Wow, can you believe it’s the year 2020? Just 20 years ago, I remember EVERYONE freaking out about how everything computer based was going to crash for Y2K. And (thankfully) nothing happened. Now look at us.
2019 was a great year. With so much good stuff and good vibes brewing over here, I’m personally excited for 2020. The picture above shows exactly how I’m walking through 2020. Strong and Confident. Like a Tiger. I’m so ready to do this shit!
The Best Things I Did in 2019
*Inspired by Ciara Johnson @hey_ciara
Became an LLC
Hired a branding/business coach
Started seeing a therapist regularly
Bought a house (cash; no mortgage)
Made new friends in my new city
Took my first solo trip overseas
Flew my parents to Paris for my 40th birthday to celebrate with me
Became more outspoken
Began to believe in myself more
Got my 1st 3D mammogram
Ups
So in last month’s The Wrap Up Vol 8, I hinted about a “HUGE up”??? Well, I can finally share with you my “HUGE Up” . . . I bought I home. Squeeeee! I wasn’t looking. It just sorta happened that way. More to come later. Stay tuned. . .
Downs
Moving is a (bleep)!
All Arounds
The Black Friday and Cyber Monday Snipper strikes again! Although I was (literally) in the Panama Canal (on a cruise with little to no WIFI) when Black Friday hit, I was still a Black Friday assassin. How? Ahead of time, I strategically picked items I knew I would need for my new house (ex. a laser printer) and ones that I refused to pay full-price for. I left the list and my credit card with my best friend and the rest is Black Friday history.
Quote of the Month:
On ThisisMelDrake.com
Curious about the beautiful Fiji Islands and its local culture? Here’s how I spent the day in Fiji with a local. Villages, temples, farmers market and more! Spoiler Alert: It’s my first video
Wearing
After the holidays, anything stretchy. Hello Spanx leggings. I salute you!
Watching
I finally broke down and got the new Disney + streaming service. And can I tell you, Baby Yoda in “The Mandalorian” is EVERYTHING (and more)! I was not ready for total cuteness overload. Be still my ovaries. Seriously, have you seen Baby Yoda yet?
Other Notables:
The Movie “Little” starring Marsai Martin. She killed the role of the bitchy tech exec turned child again. So hilarious. Wait, how does she know our middle-aged struggles?
Listening:
Death, Sex and Money podcast came in clutch during my morning runs especially the episode entitled “A Former Debt Collector’s Unpaid Bills”. From debt collecting to being legally banned from the industry for life and the collection calls she now receives.
Reading:
In last month’s The Wrap Up Vol 8, I shared that lately I’ve been feeling overwhelmed by the mile long to-do list that sits on my plate daily. This month, I picked up the book “Free to Focus” by Michael Hyatt. While most people are chasing after the fountain of youth I’m chasing after the fountain of productivity. Stay tuned . . .
Eating:
This holiday season, I tried Christmas Peppermint Bark for the first time and let’s just say, the instant addiction was scary. Not my finest moments. So glad Christmas only comes around 1x/year.
